And when him and Venus played, and it got hurt again, he'd always let me look at it. Was always wet from his licking, but I never saw blood. Had I ever seen blood, we'd went to the vet long time ago.
I thought for a while, it was just a spot on the foot that Venus would bite when they played. I found this last night, when I finally cut the hair on that foot, to see if I could find something. That one nail looked funny after I got the hair off the foot. I wiggled it, and finally found its cracked, way way up top.
Thank you for the tips on cutting nails. Yea, when they're soft would be a better time. I need all the tips I can get. This ought to be intersting, cutting his nails after 5 years! But I was able to get him to wear a top not after 5 years, so all hope isn't lost.
Soon as I get the nail cutter, I will start on Venus too. She's only 5 months old. Earlier the better.
I'm so scared already. Adonis is like my best friend. I'll be glad when 11:30 is gone, and this is all over with. |
I don't blame you for being scared...we ALL know what it feels like when WE break a nail too short...When you start cutting his nails just cut the very tip off. If you cut down to far you will cut the quick and this will hurt him and make him bleed....( get some styptic powder...if you clip to close and it bleeds this will stop the bleeding) Then he will probably give you a hard time everytime you go near him with the clippers. After you start clipping (a little about every 2 weeks) the quick will draw back so you can keep the nails at a good length.
I think the breeder (where I got Sadie) might have try clipping her nails and might have hurt her and this is why she gave me such a hard time...she is so much better now....don't get me wrong, this is her favorite thing to have done...but, it has gotten easier..
