This did happen some time ago. My younger brother is now 18.
I just posted this up on a different thread and was asked to re-post it here as well.
He was a good little dude and I still miss him.
Like I said, I can't seem to get rid of his ashes;old collars;the locket of hair I clipped from him...

He died before he really got to live and I think THAT's what bothers me the most sometimes.
I know what you mean by "He died before he really go to live" I feel the same way about my angel, Jewel. It must have been difficult to share your story and I hope by doing so, it's brought you a small amount of comfort.

There is no time limit to let go of his ashes, collar and the lock of hair (I clipped Jewel's hair too and carry one lock in my wallet, and another lock is in a small box with her ashes). You may never want to do that and that's ok. I'm sure many of us has momentos of our pets for years even decades. The time will come when you know in your heart what is right for you.

I hope you are healing and have forgiven yourself like you forgave your brother.
