yes - The ends are rounded - and the sharp part is inside the little prongs - I'm still careful using it ....I actually rake it thru Chanels hair and it gets the poofy stuff out of there - but she has a soft coat so she needs it....but for getting out those tiny tangles under the arms or behind the neck - wow is it great -

anyone with a silky coat may NOT want to use this as it does thin the hair if you use it like a comb - which with Chanel I do cause her hair is too thick - I also use it up under her chin where clothes rub - it helps so much to cut down on knots
