I had a post typed for whispersmom2 last night but by time I finished it i seemed to have timed out=/.

This pet store I got Dixie from doesnt always have puppies, and puppies arent their money maker. The majority of the store is fish & feed & supplies. They have the best/healthiest saltwater fish anywhere. I looked for 100miles and wasnt able to find anyone that came close to what these guys had. I did saltwater a ways back, raised seahorses in 1 tank & had a communal tank in another. I bought everything from these guys. They do have some birds, some reptile/amphibians and then the grooming shop. They have puppies maybe once a month. I used to be in there daily years ago for my fish (required brine shrimp to feed so used to get fresh daily for them).I have dealt with them for 8 years. We address each other first names-I know them well enough to know I do and can trust them.

They are a 4 household pet store, 2 sons, a daughter and the parents. The kids are 30+ in age. The kids all own some pair of dogs and the daughter also does some birds. Younger son is one who owns the pet store. When it originally opened in 1995 it was fish, feed & supplies, and reptiles/amphibians then later on some puppies and the birds, grooming shop. I have seen english bull dog pup once, mastiff's, G sheps, Yorkie , pom's and mini pins. I have seen the female yorkie and one of the mothers pom adults in her grooming shop, she takes them to work with her. They are not bad people, Dixie doesnt have her tail docked-they do not believe in cutting up dogs because some people think it looks pretty or improves their appearance.

I can say I think they did something superb with Dixie. She is the most outgoing, friendly, happy lil thing I have ever seen. She is always wagging her tail. She greets anything with a wagging tail and licking. I brought her home and she met my G sheps 50lbs-85 lbs with kisses and happy tail. She met my kids, my inlaws (all 8 of them) the 6 lil dogs the inlaws take on the family functions, the vet-all waggy tail kissy face. Nothing seems to startle her or make her fearful-sign of good nerves, socialization. She did jump and put her ears back when kids jumped into pool-but after the first 3 jumps she went to edge of pool to investigate. Quick recovery from something scary is a very good sign again of good nerves, socialization.

My only complaint with her right now-she is giving me a major hard time crate training her. I want to feed her in her crate (big dogs want to eat her food) and I wanted her to sleep in there. She howls like she is dying, and doesnt stop to breathe that I can hear-and it goes on and on. I am trying to increase her time-slowly. We are up to 30mins non stop howling, if i go longer I fear neighbors may call the cops that something is dying in here. Usually dogs will give up and go play with their toys-not her, she always wants to be held. That says to me she was not caged-she was not confined. She is also 98pct housetrained. Everytime I take her out she does no1 and no2, she has had 2 accidents-right at sons bedroom door(which is where I feed her for now).

I dont want to downplay the fact there are petstores that have mill puppies or mass breed or deal with bad breeders-Majority of them get their puppies in this way. The store I deal with is a unique one, they do truly love the animals. I do not agree with mills, bad breeding practices and backyard breeding. I feel America needs to start forcing pet people to become educated and major restrictions on breeding. People who do not meet the requirements to breed should be legally forced to spay/neuter their dogs. Those who are permitted to breed-should be inspected minimal bimonthly, all people purchasing a pup should be required to fill out a questionaire at 60 days and 1 year after purchase to make sure something isnt being hidden by breeder.

I only felt the need to clear up about the place I got Dixie from as people seemed angry, and wanted to shut every pet shop down-there are a few good ones out there. I know it is hard to find a good one but they do exist. Wanted to mention, we did have a mill puppy shop here a few years ago. It became big in the news here how a couple people got sick dogs-next thing the shop is gone. They were in operation about 6 months. The palce I deal with has been around 10years, and the parents have been involved with animals in the community for I believe 30+years. I never heard 1 complaint thru the dog club about them, alot of people use them for feed & supplies.

her hair is looking better by the day. Going to try 1 product at a time on her, trying for 3 weeks first one after that if not happy will switch. I think she is going thru her oily, clumpy stage since other folks pups have had similar. I brush her tons because when I can keep her brushed she does look very pretty. Just 30 mins later after she played she is back to raggy looking again.
