potty training

is there an average age for a yorkie to be house trained? Some yorkies take longer than others to be potty trained. You have the advantage of being at home with your little one all day almost everyday. The key to potty training these little guys is consistency and persistence. You have to watch them like a hawk! If you let her get away with pottying inside even a few times, she will think that it is always ok to potty inside. Just be patient, and extremely consistent! Reward good behavior and punish bad bahavior.

home alone - how old was your yorkie once you started leaving them home alone? We started leaving our little ones at home alone after a week. But never with free run of the house. There is just too many things that they can get into and really hurt themself. I would start while she is young leaving her by herself some. If you wait until she is older, she is very likely to have severe separation anxiety issues. It is fine to leave her at home alone while you are at work, but I would not leave her more than 4 hours at a time. Can someone come over and let her out once or twice while you are at work? Can you come home for lunch? Just make sure when you are leaving her home alone that she is confined either in an x-pen or crate.

grooming - how do you get them use to the clippers and teach them to stay still? It just takes time. Like the potty training, just be patient and consistent and she will eventuall learn to behave while being groomed.
