Bailey went through a stage of barking during the night when she was younger. She is very protective and every little noise set her off.( deer walking by, coyotes howling, pinecones hitting the roof, the wind, etc) She also hates to be kenneled and gets very upset being locked up to the point where we were afraid she would hurt herself.

We put her in our 16 year old daughter's room when she was younger, who plays her music all night. (how she sleeps we'll never know) we also went to the fabric store and bought her some fleece and made her her own blanket to sleep on, on the bed. She also has a canopy bed on the floor that she will occasionally sleep in.
We also kept the door shut (so she wouldn't wander around) and put her litterbox in there with her.

She really wants to sleep with us, so she doesn't bark at night now (unless the kids are coming in late) we can keep our door ajar now so she can get down to go potty and come back to bed.

I would spend some time playing with her before bed to tire her out, also try using rescue remedy to calm her down before bed. A drop or 2 in her water bowl. My vet said it is safe to use everyday, ask your vet about it. I use it on Bailey once a week to go to her training class.

I don't use a crate because of the anxiety it causes Bailey, Bailey also hates the dark so we use night lights around the house and in the laundry room where her food and litterbox are. Hope some of this helps.
