Everyone seems to agree that this little boy is too young. Fine, he might be eating great on his own but the extra time with his mom and littermates is essential to getting a great dog. He will learn proper dog behavior from them, such as not biting too hard and all kinds of things. He'll be a better pet for you and probably won't suffer from separation anxiety when you have to leave him on his own. An older puppy is more receptive to learning.

At this point, their mother is not cleaning up after them and they are more work for the breeder but she really should keep him a few more weeks. Debbie was 10 weeks old when I brought her home and even though she is still little at three pounds, never had any eating problems. She is not destructive and is a great little girl. I know you can't wait to bring him home but please hang in a little longer. You'll be glad you did.
