Even if the momma stops feeding them, they need to stay with her for socialization reasons. The momma and the littermates teach the pups so much during that extra few weeks. I would either ask her to keep him till at least 10 weeks or look somewhere else. A breeder who cares about the puppy would keep the puppy longer as it's better for them, if not, then you don't want to give your money to this breeder. Just my opinion. At that young of an age, taking him away from his family can cause him to be stressed and sick. Some people get lucky and nothing happens but most people that I've spoken to that brought him a young pup like that had a ton of vet bills following the homecoming.
