I've heard of people breeding with a 4.5 lb. female, but only with a very small male. Even that would seem risky to me. I would aim for a 5-6 lb. female to breed. Three pounds is too small IMO. I would have your female fixed and purchase another female if you are serious about breeding. I would make sure to find an experienced breeder that would be able to accurately guess (emphasis on "guess") the size of a female puppy in his or her litter. Just make sure that you don't get too large of a female- you could produce puppies that stray too far from the standards. Not that big yorkies make bad dogs, but for breeding purposes, you should try to stick to the breed standards.
