Lightbulb very interesting.....

I made an interesting observation last night.....
Mason barks quite often at the door when he (certainly not me) hears or senses someone outside. Sometimes it's a regular bark, sometimes it's more of a growl. When my roommate comes home and Mason hears the keys outside the door, he immediately starts barking.

What I realized though, is that he NEVER barks when I am outside the door trying to unlock the key.....hmmmmm.....

So I wonder...
1. Does Mason know that I am outside the door and not a stranger?
2. Why does he bark at everyone who stands outside our door except for me? Is it a way of protecting me or something?

Does anyone else notice this with their yorkies?
