We just got done doing a lot of renovations to our house. Actually today they started installing hardwood floors in my living room and hallway. We saved a lot by doing a lot of it on our own. Also try asking neighbors if they have ever used anyone who does side jobs. We saved over half on our new windows by buying them ourselves and using someone we knew to install them. When we did our kitchen it took about two weeks and that was tearing out a wall and a half and replacing the floor. Just make sure to get a few estimates and make sure to always ask for references so you can see any prior work done by contractors. Also menards and home depot offer many clinics on how to do some things on your own. That where I got a lot of help.
