With no fever and no oozing I probably would have waited it out a day too. A neuter is painful and it is more invasive when they have to search for the testical so I would suspect him to be in pain and a little under the weather for three or four days. I don't think giving antibiotics is routine, but I always insist on pain killers because I would want them for myself. Some vets feel that if you give pain killers then you numb the pain and they are more likely to move around too much, but I think the pain killers make them sleepy so it all evens out. Of course, there are the side effects to worry about with giving any medication. Glad he's doing better. |
