I find that dogs wearing clothes matts the hair. I live in a "glass" house, lots of floor to ceiling windows and skylights. The translation is, it's so cold in winter. I did a shortish cut on the body of my late female Yorkie and left her topknot long and around her face squared off. I also would use a sheet of bounce (laundry softener treated sheets) and go over the inside of whatever I put on her. It helps some. If you have someone make clothes for Maggie, ask them to line with silk.
