The first thing we do is not charge for the grooming and by the time the owner comes to pick up the dog it has already been to my vet and I have paid the bill. If it needed further care I would always pay for it.

Owners do not bring their dogs to the groomers to be hurt, but it can happen and if you tell the owners about it and you have taken care of the problem , they may or may not forgive you, but that is just the way it is. When I was a hair dresser I can remember the girls sometimes cutting a ear or something, if this can happen on a woman sitting still it can happen on a small moving target.

It is not the accident we can not forgive, it was her response that was unacceptable, and you do need to make sure she pays the vet bills it is her responsibility.
Very well said and I do the same with my skin costomers -the vet + the dr LOL I have never cut any one with shears but I have niped a neck line no dr needed just a tiny pin size spot. but I DID NOT charge for the cut and even gave a coupon for the next visit.
