We celebrate on the 31st also......we still do have the traditional door to door trick or treating, but our town has come up with a wonder and fun Halloween tradition. We have a 'town square' and every Oct. 31st, around 5pm, we shut off the square from any thru traffic, put a live band in the middle of the square and have a celebration!! All of the stores located on the square and the surrounding area set up booths with candy and decorations...most in costume. Most of the town comes dressed up and ready to celebrate. A huge line forms around the entire square for those who want to 'trick or treat' and for those who don't, stand around and listen to music and conversate! We absolutely love this tradition....it is safer than the 'door to door' and gives the adult something to do also. Beings that we live a couple of blocks from the square, we get dressed up and walk to the square, letting the kids 'trick or treat' at houses on the way......they really love the atmosphere and we have such a wonderful time!
