I bath after the 3rd day of whelping. I wipe the teats off once every couple of days in between baths. I have never had a pup not recognize mamma after the first bath. I do, however, make sure the Mamma is thoroughly rinsed, then rinsed some more. She also has to be COMPLETELY dry before being put back in with the pups.
