If we start seeing more Yorkies with their natural longer tails - we'll soon get used to this and like it just as much.

Docking was done in the past - primarily for working dogs and for good reasons - it just isn't necessary any longer - we have just become used to seeing certain breeds with their docked tails - and, it has continued to be done solely for cosmetic reasons (for our own pleasure).

I suspect that one day we won't be doing it here in the US either.

well said, i agree "its what society taught us" i live in UK and prefer undocked tails, and i think that most american members on here will prefer the docked look. I have 1 baby with a docked tail and the others are undocked. I think its a shame that usa still docks tails purely for cosmetic reasons, i would rather look at a yorkies cute little face than their behind!
and i would just like to say there are no sanitary issues with full tails at all! the whole docked tail is cleaner is a myth!
and i know people will say "oh but the breed standard........" but hopefully docking will become banned in all countries soon!
