You rarely see the actual tapeworm. What you see are segments of the tapeworm, that look like dried grains of rice and are usually stuck to the hairs around the anus. They are full of eggs which are eaten by fleas, then ingested by dogs, then continue on to be a tapeworm. The squiggly round worms in feces are roundworms. I guess it could be the food and she isn't digesting an ingredient in it, but most likely it's just the stage of life cycle the tapeworm is in that they have lessened. If I was unsure, I would take a fresh stool sample to the vet. My vet doesn't make me have an appointment and I think it is about $8 to $12.00 for a fecal check. |
