When I first got her which was about 3 wks ago I would leave her in the crate and take her out by leash every two hours or so. She would do fine so I started to let her come out on her own and walk with her to the bathroom and she was doing fine then too. She is still somewhat getting crate trained but I do give times of the day when she can run around either in the kitchen area or open up the living room to her. This is usually only for about an hour or so or when I know she just went to the box.

Her crate is located in the kitchen which is connected to a dining room as well. The area where she is located is about 20X20 maybe even larger than that and add a short hallway. The bathroom is about 20 feet away from her crate. I block off my living room which is carpeted with a baby gate and close all the doors from the bedrooms and office. She only gets to go into the living room if I or someone else is in there with her. Lately I have been keeping her in the kitchen/dining room areas only. I also feed her in the kitchen as well but dont leave the bowls there. I take them up as soon as she is done eating or within 30 minutes or so if she didnt want to eat.

I noticed that when she is hyper and playing with my baby thats when she makes her accidents esp when in the living room. I dont mind so much if it happens in the kitchen or dining area or bathroom because its all tiled but the living room is carpeted.

I didnt want to place the crate in the bathroom because its cold in there and where its located right now is close to a heater vent which is warmer for her.

I really didnt want her to be on a leash the whole time and strapped to me or in the crate all the time either. So, I tried to give her a little freedom but it seems she is taking a yard instead of an inch.

This morning she woke me up by barking short semi soft barks. I got up and let her out and she went straight for the litter box and pooped and peed then came to me in the kitchen all excited like come and see what I did. So I followed her to the box and then praised her like crazy by petting and telling her good girl.

Anything I should do differently or change?

Thanks for all the advice and replies

Is.
