She has been honest in saying that she wants to find the dog homes because they are not productive in her business.
Which would be better for the dogs- to run her off so that she sells to even less stringent breeders who may continue to breed them until they die or to hopefully find some kind soul on here who is willing to give them a good home?
I still feel like $500 is a little high to ask someone to give them a good home but I have heard that if you don't ask enough you will get people that won't take care of them. I almost wish there was some type of YT Rescue group where breeders such as this could give their dogs to prescreened YTers who are kind enough to take them in.
I have heard horror stories of breeders who could not sell their retired dogs just killing them and I don't even mean euthanizing them. How can we help the dogs without promoting the problem? |
I am not sure what the solution is either. I just know that by condoning the sales(which seemed like what was being done here) that doesn't help either. Make no mistake, I am all for the welfare of the dogs and would like to see every mill shut down tomorrow but I see no easy solution. Do we sacrifice the lives of a few to protect the many after them or do we continue to promote the problem by giving people avenues of a quick sale?? It is a very vicious circle, I wish someone had the answer, I really do.
