I have a Japanese Chin. He's the 4th I've owned in 16 years. They shed alot, are so very sweet, but not the most intelligent breed. Their other qualities more then make up for it. They are prone to heart murmurs, and hip issues and luxating patellas. I lost a female at 5 yrs. to sudden onset seizures. The other two had really bad hearts at 7 yrs. and 8 yrs. and passed away. So far the current one has a grade 1 heart murmur at 3 years but has no obvious symptoms. They are funny little dogs, very happy, quiet, and clowns. I had only one that ever barked when he heard a strange noise.
