What I have done is found some cheap t-shirts at the chain pet stores. I take them apart, and make a pattern from them. I then adapt them. I have done this with a harness I got on Ebay and now make cute harnesses out of many different fabrics. I have a satin orange with black bats on it for Halloween. I also made one out of pink fleece. Everyone asks me where I got the Halloween harness. I sew D rings on the shirts so I don't have to use a harness with it. It works great as long as the shirt fits snug and you can find the solid D rings.
