Canned pumpkin is good for regulating the digestive tract, so it is proper for diarrhea or constipation, but I actually prefer it for constipation and use boiled skinless chicken (easy to digest) and cooked white rice (firms the stools) for diarrhea. I also give Pedialyte if the diarrhea is frequent.
Like others have said though diarrhea is a symptom of many things. Don't let it go on very long (48 hours maximum, and that's if all seems well and he is eating and drinking) without taking a fecal sample in to be analyzed for parasites. The main risk of diarrhea is becoming dehydrated so push the fluids, low sodium chicken broth is good. |
