Angel got spayed on Mon. She had her first bowel movement after surgery on Tue. morning. Since Tue., her stool has been very dark. It looks like it could almost be black. The vet tech called on Tue. to check on Angel, and I told her that Angel's stool is darker than usual. She said she wouldn't worry and said at least she's pooing. Is this normal? When your Yorkies got spayed, did the colour of their stool change? I was given Metacam (pain meds) to give to Angel on Tue., Wed., and Thur. morning. Could the pain meds and the other drugs she was given for surgery affect the colour of her stool? Her stool seems to be firm except for some smaller bits.
