What I have learned and I dont even have a yorkie yet is:

-how much money you can spend on all the cutesy stuff.
-how every shopping trip no matter where it be to involves trying to find the cutesy stuff.
-how the cutesy stuff can take over your house very quickly.

What I have learned from having a small dog is:

-you can never have too many carriers even if there are 3 of them never used in the closet with the tags on.
-the back of the couch doubles as a place to put the really pretty expensive quilt that matches everything in the living room so you spent a fortune on it AND as a dog perch to watch all the neighborhood kids.
-that the human body CAN and WILL curve in very odd directions as to not disturb the sleeping dog in the bed.
-sliding out from under the covers and standing on the bed as to not disturb the sleeping dog in the bed when you have to go pee becomes an art.

What I have learned from just having a dog in general is:

-spelling things backwards and watching the other skin person in the room try to figure out what you said has become something we deal with regularly in our house.
-any toy that screams, quacks, oinks, moos, barks or anything else will never be used unless you have a spliting headache, you are sleeping, or you are on the phone and the toy is being used in your lap.
-wiping your dogs drool, eye boogies and whatever else on your shirt, pants or whatever is no longer gross.
-the windows in your car will no longer be completely see through. There will be nose marks and occasionally some drool all over them. You learn to look around the nose marks and drool dribbles.
