Here's my view, and this is purely from a medical standpoint. Yes, humans and dogs alike do build up an immunity to certain diseases. HOWEVER, those artificially* or passively* acquired immunities to diseases do wear off. I've never had a titer done, but I would rather be on the safe side. That's just my personal opinion, and others might feel opposite.

*artificially = by immunization
*passively = by exposure but not ever actually having the disease
