I certainly won't be buying a $1000 pet carrier but I wouldn't call someone that did shallow or selfish. We all waste/splurge in certain areas. I, for one, don't buy clothes for my dog but if she were to be cold and need a sweater/coat, I might would buy that. I have a Vera Bradley pet carrier that set me back $100. We have several halter, leashes, more than we need, I've bought several bows that she hasn't worn for more than 10 minutes at a time. She simply doesn't like bows or anything on her for that matter.

I've spent way too much on her, but I don't feel like we need to chastise others for what they spend their money on. If we are honest, we could all do without some things and give more to charity. Probably if I would have given to the underfed all the unnecessary meals and/or snacks I've eaten, it would solve the world hunger problem.

We could feed the hungry, spay the pets, clothe & give housing to the down and out but we don't. I just don't think it is fair to throw stones at those who spend their money in ways we think are foolish and after all, we could all use a little psychiatric care.
