Bite the bullet and let them go as purebred, but no papers...to me it would come across as you had no clue what you were doing if you offered papers and did not know the correct sire, even with a registry that did not require correct parentage.
Personally, if this happened to me, I would give them away with a small adoption fee, otherwise IMO it makes you look bad for the future. People tend to judge future behavior on past behavior.
