Default opinions on adopting second yorkie

My baby Pete is 1.5yrs we've had him since he was 12wks, hes so sweet and loving (did i mention spoiled). Over the past 6 months ive been considering a second and would like to adopt in the next yr, the only thing stopping me is how Pete will react. When i originally got Pete he was on the smaller side so vaccinations took time and i was nervous about socializing him with other dogs during that time, needless to say he's a little timid around other dogs. He's never actually been aggressive just timid, and he does have a few doggie friends that he's used to and actually likes (they are all relatively calm dogs). My boyfriend and i both work at home so Pete is virtually never alone, which has helped tremendously with training, im hoping this would also work to our advantage with socializing him with a new pup.

im just worried cause once i adopt im instantly attached and dont think i could re-home no matter the circumstance, i dont want to make a decision ill regret.

does anyone have experience with adopting a second with an already shy guy? any training tips for introducing a new pup? please tell me theres hope
