Horse show people use it in the horses coats on show day and then immediately wash it out when they get home. I have never used this sho-glo but from the sound of it, it may have silicone in it. I’d check the ingredients to be sure.

Personally, I keep to non silicone based products such as Plush Puppy Reviva coat, and Swishy Coat which add shine but don’t use Silicone to cut down hair breakage (Penny has such a fine coat, we need all the hair we can get!).

This is why I don't recommend a product with Silicone (when you described how the product worked and the fact that it repelled dirt, I had a good hunch what the product was made of). It's not that the stuff is harmful. i don't any idea that it is or isn't - but I do know that over the long term, it is NOT good for your Yorkie's hair. It will dry the coat out over time.
