I didn't read the other posts, so sorry if this was already mentioned. But I think putting her in an ex pen with her crate in it is a good idea, unless you think she can climb out of it. If she is scared and in a strange place, she may behave differently than she normally would.
For example, I take Tink with me a lot to my mom's and she is very comfortable there but I never left her there alone, one day we decided to go shopping so I left her in my mom's bathroom. When we got home, somehow she had managed jump on the toilet then to the counter and then couldn't get down, she was sitting IN the sink and scared when we got back
