Thanks everyone.

I like the idea of putting her in a small room, with her crate leaving the door open.

She will have her favorite pillow and two baby blankets in it so she should be fine. I am going to confine her to water only, as she will be well fed right before we leave. I want to make sure she does not need to have a bowel movement while I am gone. She can hold her urine, but now that I think of it, she has had two bowel movements in my home, when I do have to leave her.
I don't think that is bad for having her 18 months.

The problem I have with her is that she gets separation anxiety and knows before hand when I am leaving. She just knows my habits. I can stay outside with her for an hour, and if she senses I am leaving, she won't do her duty.
I can predict when she will leave me a present, and it has only happened twice.

I am wondering if she could chew the rubber off of the bottom of the door, trying to get out. She has never chewed on anything, but one never knows, as this is new to all of us.

Appreciate all of the replies.

Many thanks.

Kate
