I have had quite a few up-do's in my day and for the most part the stylist just puts my hair in a very high pony tail, curls sections with a hot iron and takes small sections of curled pieces and pins all over top of my head with hair pins (not bobby pins). Pull some wispy pieces down around the face or one piece going to the side depending on her part and there you go! Spray the sections before you curl then spray again after pinning in place.
