I have a doggie door from inside the house.. to a fence in deck and a very secured fence yard area for them to come and go when they please.
( Humane Society does approve of my setup)
How ever I do not leave them alone for very long out in the yard area because they love to dig and chase bugs ect.. and i am always scared they could get out they are very smart. when they where very young i took them to a sitter. so i guess you need to sort the pros and cons like cars, other animals, neighborhood, ect..
