I guess I was lucky, when I got Nyx she had a few mats but her puppy coat was really silky, shiny and nice. I took her to the groomer's for the first time last month and the groomer did a great job absolutely no mats and her hair was so straight I was amazed. Her hair is still like that almost a month later and she loves getting brushed and combed now cause there's no mats that cause her pain.
