When I got Chewy he had matts...(3 months old) i got as much out as I could without it hurting, then took him to Pet Smart groomers... I told them I needed to stay and watch them so i could learn how to groom... He didn't get any thing cut, and no bath cause I bathe him. WELL... It was hard to deal with cause it hurt.. and I had her shave his tummy cause the matts would have hurt too much to brush out... The girl was really sweet and good to him but it HAD to be done... Thank GOD his hair wasn't very long cause he was a puppy... but I vowed to never let his hair get like that again... I brush him every single day... most days twice.. morning and night. So far no matts... I like pet smart cause you can get an exspress grooming and that just means they do it while you wait. The puppy doesn't go in a cage and wait for you! Ours has a huge glass window where you can see every thing they do, (I like this a lot) I would never leave my baby with a groomer and walk away... they always let me come in and help hold him, talk to him and have input as to what is being done. I'm telling you, go to pet smart, ask for the groomer with the most exsperience. Tell them you want them to teach you how to groom your dog.(I think it cost 10.00 more) I would ask about the dryer they use... I have never let them bath Chewy but I am wondering if they use that room dryer that those poor Yorkies died in a while back! Make sure you ask about it if you want them to bath him! Good luck!!!
