I rescued a dog who was what the vet guessed to be 10-12 years old. I won't go in to the gory details, but I didn't even know what kind of dog it was. Turns out it was a Yorkshire Terrier and that began my love affair with the breed. Chester was the most amazing dog ever. He lived to be 17 and those were the most wonderful five years of my life with a pet. I also rescued a 15 year old former puppymill breeding dog. She was a little neurotic, and it took some time, but she was also a sweetheart. I had her until she was 18. Her little lips looked just like a Rosebud, so that's what I named her. The older ones may have to overcome some habits that you may not be too happy with, but it sure is worth it. It's a wonderful feeling to spoil them rotten the last few years of their life. They know when they're truly loved and cared for. I love the older ones and make it very well known that I will take them in a heartbeat. Good luck in making your decision.
