Wow, the atmosphere around here has certainly been cranky lately. I have had cats and dogs most of my life - I recently had my 15 year old man cat "Highway" put to sleep as he had begun to suffer with cancer. He was very loving and slept with me and always would be in my lap when I sat. I loved him immeasurably. However, after having German Shepherds, poodle mixes, cocker spaniels and Yorkies - I want Yorkies! They are incredibly needy, loving and inconsolable without tons of attention. It is the most wonderful feeling in the world to have someone so beside themselves with joy upon my return home that they whine, bark, jump, roll over and cover me with kisses all at the same time - this is usually about a 10 - 15 minute ritual that Tucker and I have whenever I have been gone for 1 hour or 8 hours. He follows me wherever I go in the house and I feel so honored to be worthy of this kind of devotion. He sleeps curled up under my chin every night and I wake up to warm snuggly puppy kisses every morning. Yorkies do require much more attention than most breeds of dogs and cats to be their happiest little selves and this is precisely why I got Tucker, who is the third Yorkie to grace my life. I love the cats I have now but they are content to be in another room when I am not. Not so with my boy.

Saw this somewhere: " To dogs we are friends, companions and centers of their universe, to cats we are merely staff." Something like that anyway...

Please everybody try to get along...
