sounds like you need a groomer's intervention. Not sure about all groomers, but mine did a very good job of getting out the mats which usually were around the legs and buttocks area. They actually combed them out with some type of special comb. If it got too out of control (and at times, it happens), then its time to cut the mat out. But you can talk to your groomer and see what they think is the best option.
