I understand when one doesnt treat when a puppy isnt positive for worms. That makes perfect sense.
But truthfully when I treat with panacur, It has a triple purpose.
It helps me possibly safeguard the puppies and new owners from parasites, protozoa and maybe allergic reactions before they leave here.
Panacur is also a treatment against giardia. Have I ever had giardia here? No. But I live within 2 miles of the wabash river, which floods out of its banks into the farmland a few times a year. So its not uncommon for there to be standing water not far from here. Do my yorkies have excess to the water? No they dont and they dont drink from stagnant dirty water either.
Its just a precaution I feel good about. If they have a reaction to the medications given here too, then its possibly they may have a liver problem.
