May I ask where in Missouri did you get your little one that passed? I got my Maltese in St Charles Missouri. This lady was a little senile and when my baby got sick also when I got her home, I took her to the vet. She had something wrong with her liver enzymes. My vet suggested I take her back. I was so attached to her I hated to. I called the lady and she was very rude with me and her son also. He said they never had any problems with any of their dogs.. NONE they said. Well I kept her and she is okay now. She is 2 years old and doing great, but I will never buy from these people again.
Just thought maybe it was the same place.
