Silk is six and has been on puppy food all her life so i didn't switch her as the vet said it was okay and she was in good health sooo when she got pregnant, I added a couple of smaller meals during the day and about two weeks before whelping, I started adding one Tablespoon of cottage cheese per day to one of her meals. She has always gotten half an egg a day too so I didn't have to change anything. Since she only had one pup, the vet told me she is getting enough calcuim. Also, her milk didn't come in until her actual due date which was three days after she wwhelped so I made a pudding that is supposed to make the milk come down and also gave her two teaspoons of dark beer per Debbie jenson's advice. So i don't know for sure what made her milk come down. the vet had told me she would not have any at all so I fed round the clock for two days to keep the puppy alive and she is doing great now and is fat. |
