Here in Jersey... and I think in a few other states in the NE - it's posted "STAY RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS" and they will ticket you for riding in the left lane - even if the whole road is empty.

If you were going the speed limit then - I think the trooper would have better served the public by pulling those guys over. It's more of a traffic hazzard when drivers attempt to pass on the right!

Knock on wood! I haven't been pulled over for 10 years now. The last time I got a ticket for driving 37 in a 25. I was deliberately speeding because I was so depressed and grieving and my eyes were so sore from crying. I was taking my middle son to Kindergarten camp and decided to TRY to pick everyone up a bit. The day before our beautiful regal GSD Sunday had passed away suddenly (RIP my beloved girl - I miss you still) and my family was shattered. When the cop pulled me over and asked if I knew I was speeding I burst in to tears and told him that my dog had died! He gave me a ticket and never said anything about my tears or my dog - or the fact that my 4 children were all bawling in the car...and it was only 8:00 in the morning.
