I wouldn't worry too much until you get the results. If the count is low, it of course creates a problem with clotting and since you were taking your baby in for surgery, even though bleeding is minimal, with the low count, the vet was just erring on the side of caution and wanting to make sure of what could be causing it and not cause your baby to have excessive bleeding during the surgery. And if there is something more going on than just low platelet count and possible a bit anemic, then your vet will know prior to surgery - try to look at it this way, the decision not to proceed with the surgery may have just helped your baby
