As for "supply and demand"...Yes I think there is a surplus of yorkies. Ones who barely resemble the breed, have questionable health, and people who made them as described in the first post. The SHORTAGE if you could call it that is with nice quality healthy yorkies...and the more those who breed the poor quality dogs breed them, the busier Yorkie rescue is going to get. |

I wondered too...
and yes - unfortunately we ARE seeing far too many health issues with yorkies and it's really sad.....Some of the threads we see here are just heartbreaking...and we sure are seeing yorkies pop up everywhere now. I was on a Texas breeder site just a few minutes ago and I swear - the yorkies were not standard (and actually not as cute as they should be) & the prices were jacked up from just 6 months ago.
