number I have no problem being called day or night...but do it a few weeks before whelping, not in the middle of a problem when many are frantic...and forget very important info...and you have to remember, I may so things opposite to others. I do not allow the pup to remain attached to the cord until the mother decides to chew it or it is expelled..that is when many are injured or asperate fluids..I want them out, lungs clear and on the teet..so I clamp and cut all cords myself. early on I lost a few..cord chewed too short and lost too much blood, one mom got out of the box with a pup attached and stepped on it..
