At our dog park there isnt a small or large breed division. So all dogs have to play together. We have only had one bad experience and that wasnt with my dog it was with my stepson. He was walking fast, not running and a huge doberman jumped on his back. The owner yelled at my step son "DONT RUN" well he was scared and walked ever faster!! Well the dobe just jumped him again!! Never in a million years would I let my dog jump someone else, running walking, whatever...if you cant keep a big dog from attacking someone keep it at home!! I dont even let my Darla who is 3lbs jump on people. I was very suprised she stayed with her dog and just kept yelling at people to stop walking so fast....I havent seen her back yet...I guess the evil eyes got to her. All dogs need to learn manners as do all humans!

In your case, if the park is divided then the bigger breeds should stay on their side. I know Darla is used the the big dogs and sometimes she gets stepped on accidently but I would remove her from the situation too if I thought she was going to be harmed. Yorkies are very protective of their owners and she was probably just trying to protect her mommy!!
