I usually rinse them right after whelping, just to get all the blood and gunk from birthing, a full bath not for a couple of weeks and only with a soapless shampoo (Bio-Groom fluffy puppy). For now take a damp wash cloth (distilled water) and wipe as much as you can. Or baby wipes.
