Yay!! I just got back from the Bentonville Shelter. I got a call from Cheryl on my way telling me she got him! I decided to go by anyway to see if they would let me take some pics of him to post...so I get to this teeny-tiny shelter...the sign says "by appointment only", but I go in anyway. There was a police officer there putting down fresh water for the dogs. I asked for Kim and he said that she is actually from SOS (save our strays) and she has him. He told me that he was the one who picked the little guy up and that was pretty scared and snippy. He said the dog never warmed up to him even later when he tried to make friends later in the kennel. I told him that Yorkies are gender preferential sometimes ( mine are!) and maybe he'll be fine as soon as he's in a less stressful environment. I can only imagine what Scout would do in that situation!
Unfortunately as you have already guessed, I didn't get any pictures. The one thing that DID happen is me feeling really sorry for all those dogs at the shelter. It was such a tiny little shelter and really run down. I was surprised because Bentonville is a very progressive community. It is the Home office of Wal-Mart corporate. I wish the Walton family would take a look at the shelter and build them a new one....maybe I will start a campaign!! The animals looked well taken care of and the officer I met was nice. They had a very pretty yellow lab and a black mix dog out in the yard. The yellow lab kept looking at me and wagging her tail. She looked like she wanted to come home with me....I'm so sad. If I had a yard with a fence, I would have three dogs right now. Just so HAPPY FOR CHERYL!!!!! |
