That's tough to have been at 8 different schools. Hopefully this one will be the perfect fit. I will keep my fingers crossed. What kinds of therapy does you brother get? Ethan doesn't get any other than speech at school now. Thank goodness. We did the therapy thing for 4 or 5 years.

We've been very lucky the county we live in is the best county in the state as far as special needs goes they have a great program in the public school system.

you mean my brother or my son (i'm sorry)
my brother has aspergers but he wasnt diagnosed until he was 18 and then he moved out to california and has a script to smoke pot
i'm not really sure how thats working for him but i wont be telling my son about his uncles method of dealing lol
my son has been involved with therapy/counseling/special ed classes/small ratio classes 3 teachers to 5 students up until now - he had a breakdown in the spring and was hosptilized - they just released him 2wks ago (from march!) but now he is in a residential treatment center put out by the childrens mental hospital here... he will be there until january or february of 2007 learning about how to deal with his disorders/disabilities/needs
i cried and still do its so hard... but honestly he is happy there and doing the work he needs to while he is still young and impressionable enough to maybe make a real difference... and he IS better
this was what was recommended a year ago but i just couldnt do it and said no - but then he fell apart and we no longer had a choice
in the meantime i see him all the time and participate in his social skills groups and family counseling and everything and i am renovating so when he comes home he will have his own room (he used to share w/his brother) because he can't handle the roommate situation
the residential treatment is everything i never thought it would be and i am so lucky... its a beautiful place that looks and feels like home... in the country (about 20min from home) and his doctor and mental health workers and nurses live there too... and work w/him every single day
there are 8 kids total and its a long term program and all about family so we are always there and learning too
and then the goal is he comes home and stays home and has the skills and tools to stay there - no more multiple schools and no more hospitalizations - just home forever
